More students should be added to Vacation Revision Programme says TTUTA

The T&T Unified Teachers’ Association wants more students included in the Vacation Revision Programme.

The programme, according to the Ministry of Education, was expanded this year to cater to Standards Three and Four pupils, along with those who scored less than 50 per cent in the Secondary Entrance Assessment examination.

It supports the transition of primary school pupils into secondary school.
This programme, along with the Remedial Education Programme, ongoing in 106 schools (80 primary and 26 secondary), are both supported by the Digital Transformation Programme initiative and have been regarded as a measure undertaken by the Ministry of Education to address academic performance.

However, TTUTA’s president Martin Lum Kin, in a GML report, said that some parents believe their children, who fall outside of the 80 schools of focus, were denied access to benefit from the programme.

Lum Kin said there should have been consideration for schools that are borderline and expanded to include more students at their particular schools.
