MoH headquarters closed for the day following water leaks

The brand new headquarters of the Ministry of Health located at the corner of Queen’s Park East and Jerningham Avenue, in Port-of-Spain was forced to shut down all operations for the day following a major water leak.

Videos of the pouring water inside the building have been making the rounds on social media.

The Ministry of Health later advised the public that the closure was due to unexpected plumbing issues which resulted in several floors being affected.

The Ministry said this closure is necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of employees and visitors and to facilitate urgent repairs.

The building was officially opened on August 7, 2023, and the ribbon was cut by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.

The project was executed via a Build-Own-Lease-Transfer (BOLT) contract between The Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (Udecott) and Asclepius Holdings Limited (wholly owned subsidiary between Republic Bank and NH International Caribbean Limited).
