MoH advises of dangerous paediatric medicines

The Ministry of Health issued a warning to the public of medical products including paracetamol drops and paracetamol syrup that identify substandard (contaminated) paediatric medicines in the World Health Organisation (WHO) regions of Africa, South East Asia and Central Asia.

The global body advised that the contaminated medicines contain unacceptable amounts of diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol and are considered unsafe, especially for children and thus, may result in serious injury or death.

A release from the Ministry of Health stated these products are not registered for use in Trinidad and Tobago.
