Min of Edu: Steps taken to help students who missed CSEC exams due to flooding

Steps are being taken to help students who were forced to miss their CSEC exams after widespread flooding in the Barrackpore and Moruga communities.

This is the information coming from Minister in the Ministry of Education Lisa Morris – Julien.

Hundreds of persons were left marooned and businesses and schools were forced to close as the South Oropouche River and its tributaries burst their banks and caused severe flooding throughout South Trinidad yesterday.

This after T&T experienced more than half the average rainfall expected in the entire month of June in just 36 hours.

Penal, Debe, Barrackpore, Woodland and Moruga were among the hardest hit communities, and on Monday afternoon, the water was still rising.

Speaking in the Senate this morning, Morris – Julien said that the Ministry of Education made arrangements for students who had difficulty getting to their centers to sit the CSEC examination.

The Minister revealed that steps had already been taken to ensure the coalition of the students information from school principals.
