MET says area of disturbed weather not expected to intensify

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has advised that the broad area of low pressure that it has been been actively monitoring shows little to no chance (0-10%) of intensification into a tropical cyclone over the next several hours as it moves across the Windward islands today.

This system is expected to produce locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds over portions of the Windward Islands, with the most intense activity favouring the Northern Windwards Islands.

The weather outlook for Trinidad and Tobago today and tomorrow is periods of rain and showers with a medium (40% to 60%) chance of heavy showers and/or thunderstorms. In the event of heavy downpours, gusty winds and street/flash flooding are likely.

THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO ALERTS, WATCHES OR WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR TRINIDAD, TOBAGO, GRENADA AND ITS DEPENDENCIES.

The TTMS continues to monitor the weather and will issue the relevant advisories for impactful weather as warranted.
