Next week Tuesday, the Ministry of Labour will host the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 Annual Review Meeting of the Commonwealth Caribbean Seasonal Agricultural Workers’ Programme at the Port of Spain Ballroom, Hyatt Regency Trinidad, Port of Spain from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
The Commonwealth Caribbean Seasonal Agricultural Workers Programme facilitates the organised movement of foreign workers to meet the temporary seasonal needs of Canadian agricultural producers during peak harvesting and planting periods when there are traditionally shortages of Canadian workers.
Workers from eleven Caribbean countries participate in this Programme.
The Annual Review Meeting brings together representatives of the Government of Canada, Governments of the participating countries of the Caribbean/Region as well as representatives from employers in Canada to discuss policy and operational and administrative issues, among other key areas of the Programme towards securing improved terms and conditions of work and to address any challenges associated with the CCSAWP.
Country delegations to the ARM are typically led by Ministers of Labour or other high-level Government officials.
Minister of Labour, Stephen Mc Clashie, will deliver the feature address.
