Matters of National Urgency Given As Reason For Commissioner of Police Designate Not At JSC Meeting Meeting

Attending to matters of urgent national importance, this is the reason given for the absence of Commissioner of Police designate, Erla Christopher, for not being able to attend Wednesday’s Joint Select Committee on National Security.

Chairman of the JSC, Keith Scotland, gave the update at the start of the proceedings today.

Mr Scotland said the committee received a letter from the COP informing it of the development.

However, Opposition Senator, Jayanti Lutchmedial, told the JSC she was disappointed by the scenario.

JSC Member and Minister of Tourism, Randal Mitchell, also commented on the development expressing confidence in the senior officers present to provide the appropriate cover for the Commissioner.
