Martin George to Kamla: Careful, ‘light it up’ comments may have racist undertones!

Head of the Tobago Chamber Martin George says that there is some concern with the comments from the Opposition leader.

He says that she has to be careful that she’s not communicating any racist undertones in her comments.

Speaking with News Power Now this morning he spoke of Stand Your Ground Laws in the United States.

He referred to the example of 17-year-old African-American Trayvon Martin, the teen who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman of February 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida, United States.

The shooting exposed deep divisions among Americans on race issues.

George noted the same could be construed with Persad Bissessar’s recent comments, and this could be very dangerous for T&T.
