Marijuana camp destroyed in Freeport

Police destroyed a marijuana camp and marijuana trees during an anti-crime exercise which was conducted in the Central Division yesterday.

Around 4 pm on Saturday 11th September, 2021, a party of officers proceeded to Taitt Madoo Road, Freeport, in the vicinity of a known drug block. A search was conducted, where approximately 1,500 meters off the roadway in a bushy area, officers observed a makeshift camp.

Upon searching the location, officers observed approximately 60 marijuana trees. A further search of the camp was conducted and a quantity of dried marijuana, which wrapped in plastic shrink wrap was found and seized. The marijuana amounted 200 grammes when weighed. The marijuana trees were uprooted and destroyed. No one was arrested in connection with this seizure.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt Curt Simon, ASP Ragoo, supervised by Sgt Persad, and included a party of officers from CDTF- Area South and officers of the Canine Branch.
