Montanos Chocolate Co. receives $250,000 grant from the Trade Ministry

Ms. Elizabeth Montano, Director, Montanos Chocolate Company Limited who is a manufacturer of chocolate and cocoa-based products received $250,000.00 in grant funding from the Ministry of Trade and Industry through exporTT Limited. 

In a release issued on Wednesday by the Ministry; Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon, “underscored the Government’s commitment to enhancing access to finance, building capacity of manufacturers and promoting locally grown products on the international market.”

In total four local manufacturers were the latest recipients of grant funding totaling $789,061.13 from the Grant Fund Facility (GFF).

LTL Manufacturing Limited, manufacturer and exporter of lead-acid starter batteries received funding in the amount of $203,660.00, Steven Blanc, Director, received on the company’s behalf.

Del Mano Food Limited, a small manufacturer of high quality sausages and meat products received funding in the amount of $250,000.00.  Mr. Stefan Grosberg, Managing Director, received on the company’s behalf.

The fourth recipient, Ms. Krishnawatie Tiwari, Owner, Yumma Agro Processors which manufactures dairy products received $85,401.13. Ms. Tiwari indicated that the grant will assist the company in purchasing a commercial refrigerator and braising pan.

Ms. Elizabeth Montano said that although her family’s core competency is in the entertainment industry, she has always been interested in diversification and hence the birth of the Montanos Chocolate Company.  She said, “through our participation in Trade Missions with exporTT Limited and personal research, the interest in and the demand for our product has increased and this grant would assist us with expanding our export markets and building capacity through the procurement of new equipment.”
