Man City captain moves to La Liga as Chelsea fire sale continues

Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan will join Barcelona on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of this month.

32 year old Gundogan was offered a new contact by City but is thought to have negotiated a more lucrative three-year deal with the Spanish champions.

Meanwhile Chelsea continues its fire sale as star academy graduate Mason Mount joins the list of players set to leave the club.

Manchester United have had a second bid – worth up to £50m – for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount rejected as the Blues are understood to value Mount at about £70m.

On Wednesday, Arsenal agreed a £65m deal to sign Mount’s Chelsea team-mate Kai Havertz, while Manchester City closed in on signing midfielder Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea for £30m.

Midfielder N’Golo Kante is set to leave Chelsea and move to the lucrative Saudi Arabian league.

Chelsea spent £600m last season and need to sell players before 30 June to ease Financial Fair Play worries.
