Major Turnout For The Child Vaccination Programme Results In Long Lines At Larry Gomes Stadium.

Long lines have been reported at Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima for the child vaccination program.

Reports say the issues at the site were resolved this morning, however the long lines persisted.

The mass vaccination program has now been expanded to include children between the ages of 12 and 18.

Children however are receiving the Pfizer vaccine.

Meanwhile, Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, has responded to the Opposition after they vocalized their concern with vaccination sites for children who have begun receiving their shots today.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar says the selection of sites is geographically discriminatory against large sections of the population and this will be an impediment for parents who reside in remote and marginalized areas.

She also disclosed that there were many schools that could have been used to ensure a more equitable distribution of sites for the nation’s children.

However, Deyalsingh told the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital, Wednesday, that there are several constraints that prevent the formation of more sites.

He said they are also constrained by the law.
