Local Government Elections got to go, says PEP

Political Leader of the Progressive Empowerment Party Phillip Alexander says if elected in power he will remove the Local Government Elections. He said the elections and municipal corporations is a drain on the economy’s pocket.

Instead, he will move towards giving autonomy to the districts in the country so that they can run their own affairs. This means there will no longer be a WASA or T&TEC but one office in a district managing its affairs. He sought to explain in practical terms how such an arrangement would take place.
