The People’s National Movement yesterday commenced its screening exercise for the selection of candidates for the upcoming Local Government Elections.
Thirty two persons were expected to be screened for the Sangre grande and Arima local GOvernment seats.
Sixteen nominees presented themselves for the eight Electoral Districts in the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation while another sixteen nominees were to be screened for the seven Electoral Districts within the Arima Borough Corporation.
Local Government Elections are due by August 18th after the Government lost a Privy Council case on May 18th, forcing elections to be called no more than 90 days after that date.
