Kamla: UNC will not pay “30 pieces of silver” to bring in PNM rejects

While some members of the United National Congress have jumped ship for the People’s National Movement, Opposition leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar claims , “many” PNM members have also shown interest in joining the UNC.

However, she said the UNC does not want any “PNM rejects.”

Speaking at a UNC rally on Monday night at the Aranguez North Secondary School Persad-Bissessar said all “Judases” will find their judgement day.

Last week, former UNC senator and chief economist at the Office of the Opposition Leader Taharqa Obika joined the PNM.

Before that, three UNC local councillors also switched sides to the PNM.

But she sought to make it clear it is not a one-sided affair. She said many people from the PNM have approached the UNC.

She said the UNC will not pay “no 30 pieces of silver” to bring in PNM rejects.

According to Persad-Bissessar, all “jumpers” will sink with the PNM.

Persad-Bissessar said the UNC was also not distracted by the few who have left.

“Rather, our focus remains on the hundreds of thousands of who continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with us, as a united force against PNM oppression.”

She even dismissed internal “haters” who she said are continuing efforts to assist the PNM to “sabotage and undermine” the UNC. She said only UNC members will determine when she leaves the leadership through democratic elections.
