Janelle “Penny” Commissiong shines on the selection committee for the 2023 Miss Universe Pageant

The world’s first black Miss Universe Janelle “Penny” Commissiong is on the selection committee for the 2023 Miss Universe Pageant, which was aired live last from El Salvador.
The selection committee will decide on the winner among the candidates participating in the Miss Universe Pageant.

Janelle Commissiong, the Trinidad and Tobago beauty who won Miss Universe 1977, taking the crown in the Dominican Republic, confirmed yesterday that she was honoured to be a member of this year’s selection committee and she is excited to be a part of the selection process. She said: “So far, all events have been well supported, packed house and very enthusiastic crowd. The 84 contestants seem to be enjoying the experience,” said Commissiong.

The selection committee is predominantly female, boasting a diverse array of accomplished individuals from varied professional backgrounds.
