Independent Senator To CAL: Consider Benefits Of Smaller Aircraft On Air Bridge

One Independent Senator is suggesting consideration be given by Caribbean Airlines for greater use of smaller aircraft between Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr Maria Dillon Remy made the proposal during her contribution to the Budget Debate in the Senate Thursday.

Dr Dillon Remy said from her understanding these are more efficient in its operation when it comes to domestic air travel.

The Independent Senator provided information relating to a breakdown of the cost per seat when the smaller aircraft  is used especially in light of the reduction in the fuel subsidy which the state provides.

Government Senator, Nigel De Freitas, responded to the concerns raised by Dr Dillon Remy indicating factors which must be brought to the forefront when treating with this development.

Mr De Freitas also brought to the mix factors which can make the route more economical.

Dr Dillon Remy noted that she is aware of deliberations between Caribbean Airlines and the Tobago House of Assembly and is hoping solutions can be found to improve the level of service between both islands.
