Indarsingh: Rowley’s apology for poor roads “a vulgar and desperate act” to “buy” votes

Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh says Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is desperately attempting to buy votes.

His comment is in relation to the PM’s recent apology over the deplorable state of the nations roads.

Indarsingh was part of a demonstration along Savonnetta Road and Camden Roads, in Couva, on Monday, calling on the Government to fix the roads within his constituency.

He said Rowley’s apology was “a vulgar and desperate act” to “buy” votes for the PNM in the upcoming Local Government Elections.

Noting that Rowley’s explanation that the country’s road network deteriorated because of an almost 30 per cent loss of revenue and they had to prioritise projects, he said that the Government spent millions of dollars for “lavish project of grandeur.”

Indarsingh said the Government found money for projects like the Point Lisas Business Park, the Phoenix Park Industrial estate, the Solar Park, the President’s House refurbishment, the Red House, White Hall and Stollmeyer’s Castle, while people grapple with poor roads.

He said: “How can an apology bring back the money spent on burst tires, bent rims, damaged ends and the frustration and inconvenience that residents continue to suffer on a daily basis
