Hinds admits “looseness” at gun ranges

Audits are being done to identify loop holes which may exist relating to the purchase of ammunition and the operations of shooting ranges in T&T.

Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, says the process has started and he has gotten reports of what he described as looseness in the system.

The topic was raised by Joint Select Committee member, Randall Mitchell, at a meeting of the JSC on Wednesday on National Security.

The Committee examined the operations of the Police Service Commission with a focus on strategies to improve the management and performance of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

Mr. Hinds said the development is already getting the attention of Acting Police Commissioner of Police, Mc Donald Jacob, and steps will be taken to tighten up the arrangement.
