Heal Empower Rise Counter Trafficking In Persons Project Is Launched

The Heal Empower Rise Counter Trafficking In Persons Project has been launched.

It is designed to strengthen the enabling environment that provides protection and support services to survivors of trafficking.

The launch took place at the Brix Hotel today.

The project will be implemented over a two year period.

The project has the support of the United States Agency for International Development, Mission for Eastern and South Caribbean, the International Organization for Migration and The United Nations Development Programme.

During her remarks, Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Donna Cox, said the Ministry has recognized the complexity and seriousness of human trafficking.

As a result of this it has drafted a Manual on Victims Care for Social Service Providers.

The Manual provides comprehensive information on the importance of adopting a victim-centred approach, the victims’ need for care and protection and the relevant agencies to contact and other basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter.
