HDC’s Drive To Collect Outstanding Rent Described As Successful

Quite successful is how the Housing Development Corporation describes its drive to recover outstanding rent from errant tenants.

Housing Minister, Camille Robinson-Regis, gave the update during a tour of the upgraded play park at Harpe Place, Observatory Street, Port-of-Spain, Wednesday.

On May 3rd, HDC said “While millions of dollars are still owed to the corporation, monies received will be used to construct houses across the country as the demand for government-subsidised housing increases.

As a result, the HDC must continue to recoup funds to maintain the operations of the organisation.”

HDC said as of May 3, 18 tenants have been evicted.

It added in some cases, those evicted have made payments towards their account and have agreed to settle their arrears.
