From next month, work on the installation of guard rails along the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Gasparillo will begin.
Acting Works and Transport Minister, Richie Sookhai, revealed this in the parliament on Friday.
There have been calls from various quarters for cable barriers to be repaired or installed.
At present the Ministry of Works and Transport is putting in place its guard rails programme.
Under this venture cable barriers will be removed.
They will be replaced with guardrails.
Phase one of the project consists of three packages, two of which will focus on the Caroni area and one in Victoria West.
Both projects are due to be completed in September and October this year.
Packages were advertised via open tender to ensure competitiveness and value for money.
