Griffith’s lawyer praises AG for his handling of the FUL audit report matter

The Attorney General Secretariat says fairness and the law demand that before there be any publication of the Firearm Users Licence Audit Report in parliament or its summary, all persons who may be adversely affected by the findings therein should be afforded the opportunity to comment and make representations on any such specific findings.

In the letter the Attorney General assured Mr Lalla and his client if and insofar as such persons have not been provided with such an opportunity, there would be no publication authorized by the state or its agencies of the audit report or any summary thereof, unless and until all persons affected by findings therein are given that opportunity.

The letter added further, the audit report or any summary thereof will not be laid in a manner as to prejudice its value as an investigative audit report.

Speaking this morning on the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital this morning, Mr Lalla said he’s happy that Mr Griffith will now have a chance to respond.

He was in high praise of the Attorney General for his handling of the issue.

However he said that there is still one concern.

He said that is an aspect of the letter that the AG and Prime Minister need to revisit and correct.

He said that the letter does not give an indication as to what will be done from this point.
