Griffith dismisses fake news that Moriah Police Station closed

Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, notes the deliberate attempt being made by certain persons who are spreading false information about police stations across the country.

The latest is the Moriah Police Station in Tobago.

Contrary to information being spread that this police station was due to be closed on Thursday, the station remains open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to the CoP.

The CoP says that at present, several officers are in the station waiting for reports to come to them which is very rare, given that there was an average of one report per week during the period January to November 2020.

Commissioner Griffith says there will be a new normal in the way police officers operate. He pointed out that instead of many officers remaining in the station waiting for reports to be made, they will now be out on patrol, showing an increase in visibility of police officers in the public.
