Gov’t Confirms Recommendations Of Justice Judith Jones Reports Are In Effect

Several of the recommendations from the Justice Judith Jones Report into abuse of children at Children’s Homes, Rehabilitation Centres and other similar institutions which provide residential care are in effect.

Confirmation of this comes from Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for Gender and Child Affairs, Ayanna Webster-Roy.

In June 2021cabinet agreed to the appointment of an eleven-member Investigation team headed by retired Justice Judith Jones to conduct the probe over a four month period.

Speaking with Power 102 Digital this week, Minister Webster Roy listed the various proposals where progress have been made in turning the recommendations into action.

They include auditing of children’s homes; improving physical and technical areas for those homes and review of policies at the Children’s Authority.

Minister Webster Roy said there are also counselling, funding, mediation and other services available to members of the public to get help in times of need.
