Government Urged To Carry Out Survey On Standard Of Living In T&T

The government is urged to have proper tracking systems in place at the finance and social development ministries to monitor the progress of vulnerable persons who benefited from grants during the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was a point highlighted by Independent Senator, Amrita Deonarine, during the Budget Debate in the Senate Wednesday.

Ms Deonarine pointed out that a survey of living conditions was done by Suriname during the Covid period.

She said, based on her estimates, it will cost tax payers about 1.5 to 2 million dollars to carry out such a survey by the Central Statistical Office.

Ms Deonarine said there are several benefits that can be derived from carrying out such a venture.
