Government reveals when the backdating of public accounts for last year were found, clarification was sought from public servants involved.
Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, made the revelation at the weekly post cabinet news briefing held on Thursday.
He said he was advised between April 9th and 15th this year, staff in the Treasury tried on many occasions to provide the Auditor General with the amended public accounts.
This was done through the use of TTPOST.
Imbert said on the same day the error was found the Auditor General wrote to the Attorney General indicating the Ministry of Finance was cleared to recall the previously submitted audited accounts and provided a revised version of the accounts.
The Finance Minister said the amended public accounts were accepted by the Auditor General on April 16th and had signatures from three public servants.
