Floods affect several areas of South Trinidad

Several areas in South Trinidad reported flooding this morning as a result of heavy rainfall.

At Penal Rock Road junction in Moruga, the river near Boysie’s Restaurant and Bar was on the brink of overflowing.

The water was flowing behind the business place and nearby houses.

There was also flooding reported at the Moruga Main Road in St Mary’s Village, near Saunders Trace.

The road was said to be filled with water, and some drivers were waiting for it to subside before venturing into it.

There were also reports of flash and street flooding in various low-lying areas in Barrackpore, Penal, and Union Hall in San Fernando.

Since before dawn, there has been heavy and continuous rain in south Trinidad.

Up to midmorning, there have not been any reports of major residential flooding.
