The Debe father who allegedly left his 3-year-old daughter alone in a car appeared in court yesterday (Tuesday 11 June, 2024) charged with cruelty to a child.
Kareem Mohammed, 50, was granted $30,000 bail by San Fernando Master Shabana Shah and ordered to report to the area police station every Wednesday between 6 am and 6 pm.
It is alleged that on Sunday a senior police officer heard the child, age 3, crying in the back seat of an AD wagon parked in the basement carpark of PriceSmart in La Romain.
All the windows of the vehicle were allegedly halfway down. The child was alone in the vehicle. Mohammed was subsequently arrested and charged by PC Maynard.
He was represented by attorneys Ramesh Deena and Christian Deena.
The matter was transferred to the magistrates court and adjourned to July 16 when Mohammed is expected to be called upon to enter a plea.
