Father charged with sexual touching denied bail

A 35-year-old unemployed man was remanded into custody when he appeared before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court yesterday after he was charged with three counts of Sexual Touching.
The accused is expected to appear in court on Monday 13th February 2023.

According to police reports, on several occasions during the period of December 2022 and January 2023, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually touched by her father.

The child confided in a teacher, and the incident was reported to the Child Protection Unit, Port of Spain Division. The officers investigated the matter, and a man was arrested on Tuesday 7th February. The man was subsequently charged on Wednesday 8th February, 2023, with three counts of Sexual Touching.

The investigation was supervised by Senior Superintendent Claire–Guy Alleyne, ASP Seecharan, Inspector Simmons, and Sergeant James.
