A 73-year-old New Grant man drowned at Mayaro beach on Monday and a search is now underway for his body.
Fareed Ali Kassim, of Red Road, New Grant, went to Indian Bay, Stonebright, with his friend Farouk Mohammed.
They stayed in the water for about 30 minutes and came out. Shortly after Mohammed went back into the sea, leaving Kassim on the shore.
When he came out, other sea bathers told him that Kassim re-entered the water and disappeared. Mayaro police are investigating.
