Education Ministry continues investment in remedial learning

This year’s remedial education programme had the backing of 80 learning support assistance, 87 school social workers and 40 guidance counsellors.

The programme was held during the July/ August vocation.

It was held for students at 80 primary and 20 secondary schools to enhance competencies in areas of Mathematics, English Language Arts and English Language Arts Writing.

Government allocated 50 million dollars to the venture.

However, 12.6 million has been spent so far.

Speaking during the Standing Finance Committee Minister of Education, Dr Nyan Gadsby Dolly, said the largest amount of the expenditure went to paying the support team made of guidance counsellors, support assistance and social workers.

Dr Gadsby Dolly said the programme will operate for three years.
