The driver of an AD wagon was killed on the scene following a head-on collision with a maxi taxi in Valencia last night.
The deceased man has been identified as Amrit Nowbut of Cunaripo Road in Sangre Grande.
Nowbut was said to be driving his Nissan AD wagon along the Eastern Main Road around 10:40pm, when upon reaching the vicinity of the Mt Zion Church, he attempted to overtake another car that was in front of him.
However, a 24-seater red band maxi-taxi was proceeding in the opposite direction at the same time and both vehicles slammed into each other.
Nowbut suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident and died at the scene.
The driver of the maxi was sent to the Sangre Grande District Hospital for treatment.
