DPP Office Calls For Public Apology Following AG’s Comments On Performance

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has expressed it dissatisfaction with recent comments made by the Attorney General regarding its performance and subsequent publishing of such by one daily newspaper.

Just last week AG Reginald Armour stated that the call by the DPP, Roger Gaspard for more staff “is an unsatisfactory explanation for the under performance of the DPP”.

In a letter to the AG, dated March 14, the DPP said such comments present a distorted view of the existing reality and are likely to undermine public confidence in the Office.

The Body is maintaining its position that, despite mounting challenges, it remains committed to carrying out its duties with the highest level of professionalism.

The Office of the DPP is now calling for the AG to issue a public apology and a retraction of what it describes as unfounded claims.
