A vehicular accident on Tuesday has claimed the life of a Diego Martin man.
The accident involved a police officer during the wee hours.
The victim has been identified as Kevin Constantine, of Grasshopper Lane, River Estate, Diego Martin.
Reports indicate the police officer—who is from Fanny Village, Point Fortin—had been proceeding west along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway around 1 am, when he attempted to turn north onto the Trincity Central Road.
It is alleged that Constantine, who had been proceeding east along the highway, collided with the officer’s car at the intersection, causing damage to the front left of the officer’s car, while his car’s front was totally damaged.
Fire and police officers were notified and arrived to find Constantine pinned behind the steering wheel.
He was declared dead at the scene, and a hydraulic rescue tool had to be used to remove him from the wreck.
