The Government needs to pay attention to those who come out of school ill prepared to function in everyday society or they will continue to struggle with the burgeoning crime rate.
This is the suggestion of Criminologist Ramesh Deosaran.
He maintained that the seeds of criminal activity are planted while young ones are still in the school system.
He stated that the Government was too interested in maintaining the veneer that everything is ok, to do the work necessary to target this situation.
Deosaran has always held that a large part of crime is a vicious cycle of young ones who come out of the school system ill equipped to enter and contribute meaningfully to society.
Unable to cope those same individuals according to Deosaran turn to a life of crime.
He told the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital this morning that the Government must get involved if things are to change.
He said a lot of young people leave the education system without understanding the penalties for crime.
He said we need to build the education system to ensure that students understand the consequences of criminal activity.
