Darryl Smith’s appointment is unfortunate and does not represent T&T in the best possible way.
So says public relations specialist, Denise Demming.
News Power Now spoke with Ms Demming regarding Mr Smith’s appointment as a commercial officer at the Trade Ministry with responsibility for the US and Canada.
She said she was disappointed by the decision as she explained that a Google search of Mr Smith turns up articles surrounding sexual harassment allegations and his firing.
Ms Demming suggested that as a result, foreign female professionals may not feel comfortable interacting with him.
She also suggested that regardless of his qualifications for the post, the public will view his appointment as a political bligh.
Ms Demming added that in her opinion, Smith’s appointment doesn’t allow for T&T to be represented in the best possible manner.
