Cunupia man charged with fraudulent conversion of $21,000

A Cunupia man was arrested on Thursday 20th April, 2023 by members of the Fraud Squad Port of Spain office. The arrest occurred after extensive investigations were conducted relative to several reports of fraudulent conversion.

ADESH MANO, 54, of Satnarine Trace, Chin Chin Road, Cunupia was subsequently charged on Friday 21st April, 2023 with Fraudulent Conversion of TT$21,000.00.

According to police reports, during the period July 6th and 15th, 2019 a man allegedly paid sums of cash totalling TT$21,000.00 to the suspect for the purchase and registration of a Nissan Sylphy vehicle. The vehicle was expected to be delivered by the end of July 2019, however, the suspect allegedly failed to deliver the vehicle and efforts to obtain a refund proved futile. The suspect was arrested and interviewed by officers of both the Port of Spain and South Fraud Squad offices. He was later charged by WPC Geoffray for the offence.

MANO appeared before Justice of the Peace Abraham Ali and was granted bail of $40,000.00. He is expected to appear at the Couva Magistrates’ Court on May 23rd, 2023.
