Cops hold thief moments after pensioner robbed; items retrieved

The quick response from officers led to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of items snatched from a pensioner in Arima yesterday.

According to reports, around 9:30 a.m. on November 6, 2023, PCs Phillips, Padmore, and Vidale were on foot patrol duty in Arima when they received a report of larceny from a 67-year-old Talparo man.

The officers immediately went in search of the suspect and found a man hiding on the roof of a building on Rose Street. They called out to him, however, the man jumped off the roof and ran into a yard nearby. The officers gave chase, searched the premises and surrounding areas, and found the suspect hiding at a church compound on St. Joseph Street. He was arrested and a search of the area led to the recovery of a pouch containing a quantity of TT currency and an Apple iPhone valued at TT$5,000.

Nicholas Breedy, 22, of Anglican Street, Arima was conveyed to the Arima Police Station and formally charged for Larceny from the Person by PC Phillips.
