CoP Jacobs was “required” to take outstanding vacation leave

Acting Police Commissioner McDonald Jacob has sought to justify his decision to take leave despite the country’s record high murder rate.

Speaking on Power 102 Digital, he noted that he has not taken vacation leave for 2 years.

Commissioners Jacob added that according to administrative rules, he was also required to take his leave as it is not allowed to accumulate beyond a stipulated amount.

He emphasized that he thought it best to proceed on the leave given that there are finally Deputy Commissioners in place to pick up the slack.

According to a Power 102 poll, 60 percent of persons agree that the Police Commissioner should be allowed to proceed on leave.
