Communications Minister agrees that LGE results “could have been worse”

Communications Minister Symon de Nobriga says Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is right when he said the results could have been worse given that the PNM is in the middle of its 2nd term.

Mr de Nobriga acknowledged that there was some negative movement in a few polling districts and lower numbers in general regarding PNM support.

However he pointed out that there was no massive shift in the number of votes against the PNM.

Mr de Nobriga attributed the low voter turnout to a lack of confidence on Local Government and its ability to deliver.

He said the PNM will now revisit the results to see what lessons could be learnt in those polling divisions with lower turnout.
