Chief Sec says THA staff was not partying in viral video, but team building

Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Ancil Dennis, has stated that a video showing a large gathering of people singing and dancing and labelled as being from the Finance Division of the THA, was not a party at all, but a team-building exercise.

The video which circulated on WhatsApp, came mere days after the Prime Minister said there would be no Christmas parties in the public sector and he called on the private sector and public to refrain from hosting such parties and large family gatherings as well.

However, in an interview with the Newsday, Dennis reported “The secretary of that division has since indicated to me that there was no party, but rather a team building session. The division will put out a release with the facts.”

He pointed out that few were wearing masks and persons were too close to each other, “and that is exactly the kind of thing we are asking the public not to do.”
