Caparo man robbed while trying to meet with Facebook Marketplace customer

A 32-year-old man of Sonnyman Avenue, Chickland Road, Caparo, was held up and robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday.

The incident occurred when the victim arrived at an agreed meeting spot in Port-of-Spain to conduct a transaction initiated online.

The victim told police he went to Galba Street, Morvant around 12.20 pm on January 30th, to follow through with the sale of his Nissan Tiida, which had been arranged following a meeting on Facebook Marketplace.

The victim said when he arrived at the location and exited his car, he saw two masked men climb out of a nearby drain and walk towards him.

They announced a robbery and one of the suspects searched the victim’s pockets taking one Samsung A04 cell phone valued at TT $800; one Spanish link gold coloured chain valued at TT $1,800; and TT $600 in cash.

Both suspects then entered the victim’s vehicle and drove off along Lady Young Avenue, Morvant.
