A 49-year old businessman was robbed of his licensed firearm, along with cash and a cell phone during an incident on Thursday.
Police later arrested three Venezuelans and one Trinidadian national with some of the items.
According to reports, around 3pm on Thursday, the victim, who is a Firearm Users Licence Holder, was in his motor vehicle, a black Hyundai Elantra, when he went to Brickfield Road, Waterloo Carapaichaima in an effort to locate construction workers.
There he met two suspects, who entered the rear of said vehicle.
The suspects then grabbed hold of the seat belt and choked the victim and held him against his will and instructed him to drive into Baggan Trace, Perseverance Road, Chaguanas where he was robbed of $25,000.00 cash, one (1) SIG Sauer pistol serial number 58B269346 fitted with one magazine and 15 rounds .9mm ammunition valued $7,000; and one (1) green coloured Iphone 14 Pro Max valued $1,600.00 U.S.
When the victim raised an alarm, one suspect then fired several shots at the man and then entered a white station wagon motor vehicle and drove off in a northerly direction along Baggan Trace, Perseverance, Chaguanas.
Members of the Central Division Gang Unit and Operations Unit at Perseverence Road, Freeport later intercepted a white Suzuki Swift with four occupants and recovered some of the stolen items.
The suspects were identified as: Pedro Rodgriguez, age 18 years, Spanish National of Mayaro; Devindra Rampersad, age 38 years, of #141 Warren Road, Bejucal, Cunupia; Jefferson Artenga Rodriguez, age 28, Spanish National of Couva; and Yandere Jose Lara age 20 Years Spanish National of Brickfield Carapichima.
The items recovered included: one Beretta Pistol serial# TAU 08138 fitted with one magazine and 11 rounds .9mm ammunition; one Sig Sauer P32 Pistol serial # 58B269346 fitted with one magazine and 15 rounds .9mm ammunition along with one black holster; and one Iphone 14 Pro Max green in color.
