The Attorney General announced that the Bill to Decriminalise marijuana will be laid in Parliament tomorrow, Friday 22nd November, 2019.
The announcement was made by the AG during the People’s National Movement meeting at the La Horquetta Regional Complex.
The AG said Cabinet approved two pieces of legislation which will see the decriminalized.
Minister Al Rawi explained the legislation will allow persons to have up to 30 grams of marijuana in their possession.
He added persons in possession of 30 to 60 grams of marijuana will be issued a fixed penalty notice by police. Once paid on time, AG Al Rawi said this will not affect a person’s criminal record.
However, failure to do so, the offender may face a fine of up to $50,000.
