Brazil couple under investigation after dying a waterfall blue for their gender reveal party

A couple in Brazil is under investigation after dying a 60-foot waterfall blue for their gender reveal party may have contaminated a city’s water source.

The unidentified couple celebrated their gender reveal at the Queima Pé river last Sunday, September 25.

During the party, the waterfall turned blue, and the couple set off blue-colored smoke bombs.

Videos and images of the party went viral on social media, leading the couple to face backlash and accusations of causing environmental damage.

The Quima Pé river is the primary water source for the city of Tangará da Serra in Mato Grossa.

The state secretary of environment in Mato Grosso, where the river is located, announced that local authorities had launched an investigation to determine whether the couple committed an environmental crime.
