A bandit broke into two food carts at the Eddie Hart grounds food strip early on Monday morning.
A groundsman told police that at around 1.30 a.m., he heard a loud banging noise and on checking, saw a man walking across the grounds with a generator.
The groundsman said he called out to a watchman for help, who subdued the man.
They also noticed a cash register on the ground nearby.
The watchman noticed that the door of a popular jerk chicken cart was broken into and the door of a nearby burger cart was also tampered with.
As the men made the checks, the bandit managed to free himself and run away.
Officers of the Arouca CID and the North-Central Division Task Force were notified and a search conducted for the thief, but he was not found.
