An Independent Senator Raises Concern About Powers Given To The Minister Of Finance Under the Proposed Trinidad And Tobago Revenue Authority.

Independent Senator, Hazel Thompson Ahye, is expressing concern surrounding the powers of appointment given to the Minister of Finance under the proposed Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority.

Mrs. Thompson Ahye highlighted the matter during her contribution to debate on the Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority Bill, 2021 in the Upper House today.

Mrs. Thompson Ahye paid close attention to provisions outlined in section seven of the bill pertaining to the role of the Minister of Finance in the process.

Mrs. Thompson Ahye spent some time commenting on the issue of trust and safe guards which in place to ensure transparency.
