Agriculture Ministry: Hunting Season Closed, $100,000 Fine In Place For Law Breakers

The Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries has issued notice of the closure of the 2022-23 hunting season as well as warning of the penalty of up to $100,000 for anyone found in breach of the law under Legal Notice 275 of 2020.

In a statement on Monday, Conservator of Forests, Denny Dipchansingh, said as per the Conservation of Wildlife Act, hunting activity of game animals on all lands of Trinidad and Tobago must cease by February 28, 2023.

Additionally, it was stated that the public has until March 31, 2023, to dispose of game animal carcasses (or any part thereof) from their property or their possession.
