After theft, reprinted social welfare cheques to be dispatched next week

Arrangements have already been made to reprint the social grants and pension cheques that were stolen from the Sangre Grande Post Office earlier this week.

This was revealed by Social Development Minister, Donna Cox during Friday’s sitting of parliament.
She was at the time responding to questions from the Opposition on the issue.

She said that these cheques will be dispatched on or before February 9th 2022.

Minister Cox also stated that the Ministry will not budge in its decision to not honour cheques cashed at supermarkets in February and March.

People with legitimate cheques will be able to cash them at other institutions such as banks, or the treasury.

A total of 1,836 cheques were stolen.
